During a musical career which began in 1970s New England,
Dave has played and traveled throughout the U.S. In 1973 he
migrated from New England to Austin to be a country bass player.
For
the next 25 years, the southwest was his stomping grounds
- and the locale for much of his formative musical experience
playing with numerous country and folk acts. In 1979, with
a fledgling family, he moved up to the mountains of northern
New Mexico to play guitar, piano and bass with local and national
groups.
Back in Austin the the mid 1980s, the focus shifted toward
developing studio skills and delving into MIDI sequencing.
Recording music had always been a passion. The first tape
deck, purchased in 1963, was a Philips reel-to-reel. At that
moment the die was more or less cast, and one thing led to
another. When the recording world went digital Dave jumped
right on board, and it's been a fun ride ever since. Since
migrating to North Carolina in 2000, he has continued pursuing
recording and arranging as his major focus.
While largely a do-it-yourself kind of guy, Dave's greatest
satisfaction comes from getting together with other players
and writers. The technology may come and go as years move
along, but that simple pleasure in sharing the musical adventure
is the thing that makes it all worthwhile. |
